Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the Fundamental Level or the entire program with the examination, students will receive an official McMaster University Health Sciences Medical Acupuncture Certificate of Attendance.

Approval, Recognition or Requirements by other Agencies

Acupuncture Council of Ontario
Our entire program fulfils the requirements of the Acupuncture Council of Ontario (ACO) for the examination.  Chiropractors interested in challenging the ACO’s examination should contact them about the most up-to-date requirements and information about fee and dates.

Alberta College and Association of Chiropractors
Our program meets the standards as approved by council on July 1, 2007.  Please contact them for any further requirements

American Board of Medical Acupuncture
Our program is approved by the American Board for certification.

American Academy of Medical Acupuncture
Our program fulfils the requirement for memberships or fellowships of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.

British Medical Acupuncture Society
Eligible health care professionals completed our fundamental unit may enrol in more advances courses at the British Medical Acupuncture Society.

Canadian Academy of Medical Acupuncture
Our program fulfils the requirement for memberships or fellowships of the Canadian Academy of Medical Acupuncture.

Chiropractor’s Association of Saskatchewan

Our program meets the requirements of the Association and is considered an eligible certification program for Chiropractors.

College of Chiropractors of Ontario

Our program meets the standards as approved by the council on June 22, 2007.  Please contact them for the most up-to-date requirements.

College of Massage Therapists of New Foundland and Labrador
Our program is approved by the College of Massage Therapists of New Foundland and Labrador.  Our Fundamental Level with the examination meets the minimum competencies of the CMTNFL.

College of Massage Therapists of Ontario
Our program is on a list of self-confirmed programs on the CMTO website.

College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta
Our program is approved by the CPSA.  Completion of Fundamental Level with the comprehensive examination is required to perform acupuncture in a medical practice.

College of Physiotherapists of Alberta
Our program is approved by the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta Council.

College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
Our program is approved by the CPSBC.  Completion of Fundamental Level and Specialty Level with the comprehensive examination is required to perform acupuncture in a medical practice.

College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
Our program meets the educational standard set by the CPSO.

College des Medcins du Quebec
Our program is approved by the CMQ.

College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia
Our Fundamental Level program is approved by and meets the minimal education standards set out in the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia Credentialing Policy 10.1.

College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
The College of Physiotherapists of Ontario has yet to issue their current position on training requirements. Our program meets the requirements approved in 1998.

Worker Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario
Our program is recognized by the Worker Safety and Insurance Board  (WSIB) for payment to acupuncture providers.
